Holes by Louis Sachar
This book is about a boy who is mistakenly arrested for stealing a pair of shoes worn by a famous athlete. He is sent to a juvenile prison camp in the Texas desert where he has to dig holes from sun up to sun down. The interesting twist to the story is why the boys at the camp are digging holes and how the boy grows from his experiences.
Don't Look Behind You by Lois Duncan
This book is a thriller about a girl whose family is forced to lose it's identity and in the process she loses her life as it once existed.
